About The Fight Against Suicide

We train college students β€” young men and women β€” in mental fitness so they can face life’s hardest moments with strength, not silence. We’re building a culture that talks openly about adversity, equips students with tools to handle it, and reminds them that hope is never out of reach.

But here’s the truth: what’s happening right now isn’t working.

  • Suicide is the second-leading cause of death among college-aged students.

  • 1 in 3 college students report experiencing persistent feelings of sadness or hopelessness.

  • Rates of depression, anxiety, and substance abuse have more than doubled over the past decade on campuses nationwide.

The traditional model β€” awareness campaigns with no follow-up, one-off seminars with no action β€” isn’t enough. Students need more than posters and pamphlets. They need training. They need structure. They need a game plan.

That’s what we provide.

Where the Money Goes

We believe transparency is part of trust β€” and trust is essential in this fight.

That’s why all proceeds raised through TFAS events are directed through the Sam Asbury Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit named in honor of the young man whose story sparked this movement. The Fight Against Suicide operates as a wholly owned subsidiary of the foundation, ensuring full alignment with its mission and oversight of all funds raised.

Through the foundation, we support:

Mental health nonprofits doing boots-on-the-ground work

Campus-based wellness initiatives

Direct support for students impacted by suicide

Every donation, every ticket sold, every sponsorship β€” it all goes back into the mission.
